About This Workshop

“There are multiple causes of sleep disruption among the elders in our care; we do not want our routines and practices to be one of them.”  Marilyn Oelfke, RN

Participants will take an in-depth look at the impact of sleep or lack of sleep on the life of those they serve.  They will consider the causes and contributing factors, identifying those that can be changed and develop plans for addressing them based upon the concepts of high involvement and resident-directed care.

Learning Objectives:

  •  Understand the importance of a good night’s sleep as it relates to wellness

  •  Identify cause of sleep disruption: physical, emotional, environmental

  •  State the significance of high involvement of staff and residents in planning for change

  •  List 5 interventions that can enhance and promote sleep

  •  Cite 3 indicators of wellness related to a good night’s sleep

Cost:  $120 for single registration; $99 each for registration of two or more from same community.

CEUs: The National Continuing Education Review Service (NCERS) of the National Association of Boards of Examiners of Long Term Care Administrators (NAB) has approved this program for 6 clock hours.
